Abdullaahi Ali Afrah Osman (Aspro), was a Somali professor, mostly known for his role in the Islamic Courts Union (ICU). He was born in March 9, 1953, in Ceelgaras, Galguduud, Somalia. Aspro participated in the foundation of a variety of universities in Mogadishu, such as Banadir and Al-furqan universities. Aspro was born in Ceelgaras, Somalia. He left there with his parents to Mogadishu when he was five years old. At the age of eighteen, Aspro graduated high school, and then went to Lafoole University, in Mogadishu. After he got his bachelor's degree, he went to the US and joined Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, United States, to prepare his master's degree in Crop science. After he got his master's degree, Aspro moved to Toronto, Canada, where he stayed for ten more years. In 1996, Aspro moved back to Somalia with his family. "I have been there, just like everybody else, working and trying to make a good life. I tried my best and when I finished my intention to stay there I just moved back to Somalia", Afrah said, during a telephone interview with National Post.
