General Ashraf Rifi (Arabic: أشرف ريفي; also spelled Achraf Rifi) (born April 1, 1954 in Tripoli, Lebanon) is the general director of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (the national police). Rifi attended Lebanese University, studying the sociology of crime. He studied police work abroad during assignments with police forces in Ottawa, Canada; Maisons-Alfort, France; and Saudi Arabia. He was promoted to general in April, 2005 when he was named to head the national police. Rifi is married and has four children.

The Lebanese University (Arabic: الجامعة اللبنانية, French: Université Libanaise) is the only public institution for higher learning in Lebanon. Founded in 1951, it has 17 faculties as of 2006 and serves various cultural, religious, and social groups of students and teachers.
