Beena Kannan (Malayalam: ബീന കണ്ണൻ) is the Managing Director and Lead Designer at the reputed textile major Seematti Silks. She is an able and enthusiastic industrialist who has elevated the image of her firm to great levels in the silk and textile industry of Kerala. Known for her immense dedication, guts and talent, she is a popular public figure as well. Beena Kannan was born 17 July 1960 in Kottayam, Kerala, India. After university, she joined the family textile retailing business in 1980, working with her father and husband. She became one of the most noticed wedding silk sari designers in south India. Beena Kannan has been singlehandedly managing her dream, Seematti, (one of the outlets of the family. Her cousins manage other outlets in the State) with of course help from her father and son, Goutham. Beena Kannan has designed world’s longest handwoven silk saree that won a place in the Guinness Book of Records and Limca Book of Records in 2007. It is 486.6 metres long. The total Saree weight is 72.583 kg.
