Bernadette Protti is a former high-school student who killed a fellow classmate, Kirsten Costas, in 1984. In 1992, the story was made into the movie ￢ﾀﾝA Friend to Die For￢ﾀﾝ (also known as ￢ﾀﾝDeath of A Cheerleader￢ﾀﾝ) with Tori Spelling as Kirsten (￢ﾀﾝStacy Lockwood￢ﾀﾝ) and Kellie Martin as Bernadette (￢ﾀﾝAngela Delvecchio￢ﾀﾝ). In the movie, the story is told from Bernadette's point of view ￢ﾀﾓ she is portrayed as the real victim who killed her classmate ￢ﾀﾓ portrayed as a mean-spirited bully, constantly teasing girls she does not like ￢ﾀﾓ in fit of helpless rage. The group, 'Seeing Means More', named a song "Bernadette Protti". The Costases left Orinda and moved to Hawaii. Bernadette Protti was released from prison in 1992 at the age of 23. Kirsten's parents vehemently opposed Protti's release. Kirsten's and Bernadette's classmates who graduated from High School in 1986, celebrated their reunion in 2006.
