Kathy Vara

Kathy Vara is a morning news anchor. She has joined KNBC Channel 4's early-morning newscast as the sole anchor of the recently expanded 4:30 a.m.-5 a.m. newscast, and joins her fellow anchors from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. as a "contributing anchor" with anchors Chris Schauble and Alycia Lane. Schauble joined KTLA in the beginning of March 2011. Vara now co-anchors with Lane from 4:30 7:00 a.m. on Today in L.A.. It was rumored that KCBS was in negotiations with Vara to reunite her with Kent Shocknek on CBS 2 News 5-7am. Vara and Shocknek were the popular anchors of Today in L.A. Vara left KABC last year after a nine-year stint on the morning news, made her first on-air appearance March 29, 2010 on "Today in L.A.". The former KABC Channel 7 "Eyewitness News" morning anchor formerly anchored "Today in L.A." from 1994 to 2001.
