Macky Sall Politician
Macky Sall (born December 11, 1961) is a Senegalese politician. He was the Prime Minister of Senegal from April 2004 to June 2007 and was President of the National Assembly of Senegal from June 2007 to November 2008. He was the Mayor of Fatick from 2002 to 2008 and has held that post again since April 2009. Sall was a long-time member of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS). After coming into conflict with President Abdoulaye Wade, he was removed from his post as President of the National Assembly in November 2008; he consequently founded the Alliance for the Republic and joined the opposition.

Alliance for the Republic
The Alliance for the Republic–Yakaar is a political party in Senegal. It was formed by former Prime Minister Macky Sall after his departure from the Senegalese Democratic Party in December 2008. Macky Sall was also APR's candidate in the 2012 presidential election in which he defeated incumbent President Abdoulaye Wade. APR was joined by several former members of the PDS. It is the dominant partner in the United in Hope coalition, which holds a large majority in the National Assembly.

The Senegalese Democratic Party is a political party in Senegal. The party considers itself a liberal party and is a member of the Liberal International. Abdoulaye Wade, who was President of Senegal from 2000 to 2012, is the party's leader. The PDS ruled together with smaller parties as part of the Sopi Coalition. Since Wade's defeat in the 2012 presidential election, the PDS has been the main opposition party.

The Prime Minister of Senegal is the head of government of Senegal. The Prime Minister is appointed by the President of Senegal, who is directly elected for a five-year term. The Prime Minister, in turn, appoints the Senegalese cabinet, after consultation with the President. This is a list of the Prime Ministers since Senegal became independent from France in 1960.
