Major General Michelle D. Johnson is the Director, Strategy, Policy, Programs and Logistics, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base. She was formerly the deputy director of the Joint Staff's War on Terrorism, Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate at the Pentagon. As an air force cadet, she was the first woman to serve as Cadet Wing Commander (the senior ranking cadet) at the United States Air Force Academy. Johnson is an alumna of Girls State and is a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in operations research in 1981. As a first class (senior) cadet, Johnson served as the Cadet Wing Commander—the senior ranking cadet at the Academy. She was the first woman to hold the senior cadet position at any of the United States service academies. She was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship and earned a Master of Arts degree in politics and economics from Brasenose College at Oxford University in 1983. She also has a Master of Science degree in national security strategy from the National War College. She has completed the Air Force's Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, and Air War College.

2. United States Air Force Academy Colleges/University

The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA or Air Force) is a military school for officer candidates for the United States Air Force. Its campus is located immediately north of Colorado Springs in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. The Academy's stated mission is "to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become officers of character, motivated to lead the United States Air Force in service to our nation." It is the youngest of the five United States service academies, having graduated its first class in 1959. Graduates of the Academy's four-year program receive a Bachelor of Science degree, and most are commissioned as second lieutenants in the United States Air Force.
