Prince Philipp of Hesse
Prince Philipp of Hesse (Philipp Robin Prinz von Hessen) (b. 17 September 1970) is a grandson of Prince Philipp of Hesse (1896–1980) and is the youngest child and second son of Moritz, Landgrave of Hesse and his former wife, Princess Tatjana of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. As the nephew of Prince Wolfgang of Hesse, he is in the direct line of descent from the short-lived Finnish monarchy. He married Laetitia Bechtolf (b. Wedel, 5 May 1978) in a civil ceremony in Hamburg on 5 May 2006 and a religious ceremony in Panker on 10 June 2006. This was the first accepted morganatic union that has been accepted in the Hessian Royal House; both his uncle Prince Otto Adolf's wives were not given the title of Princess. The couple have a daughter and a son: Prince Philipp currently resides in New York City, New York, USA. He is a photographer and has photographed several German royals (including his sister, Mafalda) for the September 2003 issue of Vanity Fair.
