Princess Manmati

Deceased Person

Taj Bibi Bilqis Makani Begum Sahiba (Urdu:تاج بیبی بلقیس مکانی بیگم صاحبہ Other Names Jodha Bai, Rajkumari Shri Manavati Baiji Lall Sahiba, Princess Manmati) born: May 13, 1573 – April 18, 1619, in Agra was a woman of Rajput birth who became the wife of Mughal Emperor Jahangir and mother of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. She was born the daughter of Raja Shri Udai Singhji Sahib Bahadur (Udai Singh), Raja of Jodhpur, and his wife Shri Rajavat Kachavahi Rani Manrang Deviji Sahiba (Rani Manrang Devi). On January 21, 1586. she was married to the future Mughal Emperor Jahangir at Fatehpur Sikri. Their marriage was arranged by Mariam-uz-Zamani, the mother of Jahangir and aunt of Princess Manbhavati (daughter of Raja Bhagwan Das of Amer, First wife of Jehangir). Taj Bibi Bilqis Makani was Jahangir's third wife. She had one son who ascended the Peacock Throne as Shah Jahan. Taj Bibi died at Akbarabad, and was buried at Sohagpura. There was and still is a popular perception that the Rajput wife of Akbar, and the mother of Jahangir, was known as "Jodha Bai". Tuzk-e-Jahangiri, the autobiography of Jahangir, doesn't mention Jodha Bai to be his mother. Therein, she is referred to as Mariam Zamani.  ( Wikipedia article )
