Taufiq Kiemas Politician

Taufiq Kiemas (born 31 December 1942, in Jakarta) is the Speaker of Indonesia People's Consultative Assembly (Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat/MPR) since 2009. He is the husband of Megawati Sukarnoputri, who was President of Indonesia from 2001 to 2004. Taufiq married Megawati in 1973; it was Megawati's third marriage. Together they have three children: M. Rizki Pramata, M. Pranada Prabowo and Puan Maharani. As of 2008, Kiemas was the leader of the PDI’s Muslim religious wing, the BMI.

The Indonesian Democratic Party – Struggle is an Indonesian political party. It is led by Megawati Sukarnoputri, the daughter of Indonesian independence leader and first president Sukarno. Megawati was President of Indonesia from 2001 to 2004. The party's ideology is based on the official Indonesian national philosophy, Pancasila. It is a member of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats.
