Timothy evans

Major-General Timothy Paul Evans DSO MBE, known as Tim Evans, is a British Army officer who currently serves as Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Evans was commissioned into the Light Infantry in 1982. He was appointed Commanding Officer of 1st Bn the Light Infantry in 2001 after which he became Chief of Staff at Headquarters 3rd (UK) Division which was deployed to Southern Iraq. He was made Commander of 19th Light Brigade in 2005 which was deployed to Iraq in 2006. He became Chief of Joint Force Operations at Permanent Joint Headquarters Northwood in 2008 and Chief of Staff at Headquarters Allied Rapid Reaction Corps ('ARRC') in 2009. The ARRC was deployed to Afghanistan in January 2011 with Evans taking over as Chief of Staff at ISAF Joint Command. In April 2012 he became Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS), commonly known simply as Sandhurst, is the British Army officer initial training centre located adjacent to the village of Sandhurst, Berkshire, about 55 kilometres (34 mi) southwest of London. The Academy's stated aim is to be "the national centre of excellence for leadership." All British Army officers, including late entry officers who were previously Warrant Officers, as well as many from elsewhere in the world, are trained at Sandhurst. The Academy is the British Army equivalent of the Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth, Royal Air Force College Cranwell and the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines.
