William G. Schilling

William Garrison Schilling (born August 30, 1939 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a retired American actor of film and television who is best known for his role as Dr. Harold Samuels in Head of the Class between 1986 and 1991. Schilling left Manor College on Jenkintown, Pennsylvania in 1965. His acting debut came the following year, in the 1966 film The Sand Pebbles, where Schilling played the minor role of sailor Bob Prescott. As the years progressed Schilling worked more television than film, as he began to appear in shows such as The Edge of Night, Starsky and Hutch, The Young and the Restless, Dallas, Dynasty, Diff'rent Strokes, M*A*S*H and Hunter. Schilling also appeared as the character of Richard in E/R, appearing in several episodes of the show between 1984 and 1985. In 1986, Schilling was cast in the role of Doctor Harold Samuels in the American television sitcom Head of the Class, alongside Howard Hesseman and later Billy Connolly. During his time in Head of the Class, Schilling's television role included in Remington Steel, The Redd Foxx Show and As the World Turns, while his film roles included in The Untouchables, Empire of the Sun and Die Hard 2.
